An Open Letter to Supporters of The Florida Center –

To make it - or not - was NOT the question. You did it! Not only did you meet the goal of recruiting 1000 members by the end of 2008, you exceeded it. With more people signing up daily, there are now 1,069 active supporters of the proposed Performing Arts Center. My sincere thanks to each one of you.

Realizing that the next 12 to 15 months are going to be tough economically, let’s continue to talk to others about this project and build support. To paraphrase Charles Dickens, we can use this time to build a community base and prepare to move from “the worst of times” to “the best of times.” “Opening Night” - which is still over the horizon - promises economic development, educational opportunity, and quality entertainment. No wonder the progress so far proves this will be a real community success dependent on community effort.
